Chrissie Gittins was born in Lancashire and lives in
Forest Hill, South London. Her children’s poetry is widely
anthologized in twenty Macmillan, Hodder Wayland and
Scholastic anthologies. Two of her children’s poems won
Belmont Poetry Prizes in 2002. Her previous children’s
poetry collection Now You See Me, Now You …was
shortlisted for the first CLPE Poetry Award in 2003. She is
a member of the Poetry Society’s poetryclass training team
for teachers and has been resident writer with Belmarsh
Prison, the Refugee Council, Maidstone Borough Council,
twelve Southwark primary schools and Croydon Libraries.
She has read her children’s poems at the Aldeburgh Poetry
Festival, the Children’s Bookshow and the Poets House in
New York. In autumn 2005 Chrissie toured ten schools
on the western seaboard of the Highlands, including one
which she reached by boat and quad bike! Chrissie also
writes poetry for adults, radio drama and short stories.
